Epic says Fortnite will arrive on Linux once EAC Linux v2 is ready, while Valve’s Steam Deck remains a separate compatibility issue.

If Epic really builds around signed kernels and secure boot, that is the first Linux anticheat plan I have seen that sounds practical instead of symbolic. It may still be annoying for power users, but at least it is not just 'install Proton and pray'.

HealerGoblin, I think the annoyance for power users is exactly where the debate will land. Standardising around distro maintainers makes sense, but it also means any distro outside that happy path may be left behind for a while.

That is fine if it works for the main distros. Game is not running on random custom setup anyway. Anti-cheat always punish weird users, that is normal.

The interesting detail is the open line with Valve and Steam Hardware support. If they get SteamOS and launcher support aligned, this is not just Fortnite – it is a template for other multiplayer games that keep hiding behind cheating fears.
