Mojang’s latest snapshot lets Jukeboxes chain music discs from chests above them and adds a cracking ice block to Ice Caves.

The chest-above-jukebox thing is the kind of tiny feature that quietly changes survival bases a lot. Not because it is flashy, but because people already store discs in chests anyway, so Mojang just glued the two loops together. I do wish the order followed a clearer rule than slot order, though, since that means every rearrange becomes a playlist edit whether you want it or not.

Slot order is actually the part I like least too. It is predictable, but it also means one accidental shuffle and your whole playlist turns into a mess during a build session.

I think the slot order is useful for redstone people because it is deterministic, not random. The bigger question for me is whether the repeat-if-empty behavior can be used on purpose, like a single favorite disc looping while the chest stays as storage.

That repeat part is the real comedy to me. Put one disc in there and Mojang has basically invented a jukebox with commitment issues.

haha yes, but from a builder side it is nice. one disc looping means less babysitting, and if the chest is full of backups then you can still make it automatic without touching the setup every minute.
