Blizzard says Legacy points, leveling content and future account-wide systems are being shaped around multiple characters.

alt-friendly design is fine until it quietly becomes alt-required design. if legacy points are giving major quality-of-life stuff, people will min-max that immediately.

panda, i think that depends on how the rewards are tuned. if most of them are convenience, then alts become a way to stay engaged rather than a mandatory second job.

i lean the other way – convenience systems still turn into pressure once the community figures out the best route. the big question is whether Blizzard can keep the power gap small enough.

if they make it account-wide in the right places, the pressure drops a lot. the worst part of alts is never the questing, it's all the little chores that stack up.

That is the real divide for me. Alts are enjoyable when they offer a fresh route through the world, but they become tedious when every character repeats the same unlock grind before the game even starts. If Blizzard wants multiple characters to be normal play, the sensible move is to make the account-level stuff smooth and keep the character-level stuff about the journey itself. Otherwise people will just optimise around whichever alt gives the least friction, and the whole idea starts to look like paperwork with swords.
