FUT began PGL Masters Bucharest with a win over TYLOO, and András “coolio” Fercsák said Álvaro “SunPayus” García has already changed how the team plays. The Spanish AWPer topped the scoreboard in his first match for FUT with a 1.47 rating, and coolio said the team feels more controlled with him in the lineup.

Speaking to HLTV after the series, coolio said the team were relieved to recover after a shaky start and praised SunPayus for giving FUT a player who can steady rounds and win key fights. He also said the team had enough time to work with the former G2 AWPer before the event, including a bootcamp and trial period, so the debut was not a last-minute adjustment.

FUT recovered after TYLOO’s fast start

FUT’s opening match did not begin cleanly. coolio said TYLOO’s style caused problems early, especially on Nuke, where FUT had to reset after winning the pistol. He described TYLOO as a team that plays in a “bit of a crazy style,” and said EU teams are not used to that kind of approach.

The turning point, according to coolio, came once FUT won the pistol and settled back into the game. He said the team felt in control again after that and were able to close the map. He called the result important because it gave FUT a win to start the event, even if it did not provide a perfect read on the team’s long-term level with SunPayus.

The first official series with the new roster arrived after more than a month away from competition. coolio said FUT spent that break practicing with SunPayus, even before the move became official, and that the team used the downtime to work on their map pool. He added that the squad had tried the setup in scrims and did a bootcamp, so the group entered Bucharest with some preparation already behind it.

Why SunPayus fits better than a pure AWP switch

coolio’s main point was that FUT did not simply add a new AWPer; they added a player who can organize the middle of rounds. In his view, that was the missing piece. “He has really good experience and he is able to control the mid round,” he said.

He explained that FUT had tried to cover the same gap before, including with xfl0ud, but the solution never fully clicked. The team still needed someone who could keep the pack together while Krabeni lurks and other players take their positions. SunPayus, coolio said, is that kind of stabilizer without taking over the calling duties.

Instead of forcing his own system on the team, SunPayus has focused on learning FUT’s style. coolio said that made the transition easier, along with the player’s personality. He described him as an easy teammate who lifts the mood and does not bring unnecessary friction into the group. He also pushed back on the idea that SunPayus is too old for this lineup, saying he is around the same age as the rest of the roster.

His impact is visible in the small decisions that shape a round. coolio said SunPayus knows when to smoke, when to speed up, and when to hold back. That kind of timing, he said, is something FUT were missing. He also stressed that the AWPer’s main job remains the same: put him in an angle, and the team expects him to win the duel.

Confidence issues with cmtry changed the CT side

The switch also reflects what FUT were not getting from cmtry. coolio said the previous AWPer began to lose confidence, missing shots he should have converted, and that this had a direct effect on FUT’s CT side. SunPayus has already changed that dynamic by turning more of those opportunities into kills.

That matters because a single opening duel can change the shape of a round. coolio said that if SunPayus gets an entry and FUT are suddenly playing a 5v4, the rest of the round becomes much easier. He tied that to a broader change in the team’s decision-making, saying FUT had often over-fought and over-peeked in the past.

“We were losing many games because people got crazy in their head,” coolio said. “We were over fighting, over peeking, and now it’s disappeared in a way.”

He was even more direct when talking about SunPayus’ previous team. coolio said he was surprised G2 benched him and still thinks the AWPer is very strong. “I was shocked that they benched him in G2 because I feel like he’s still so good a player,” he said.

That praise came with caution, though. coolio said he does not want to overstate FUT’s ceiling after one tournament and does not want to jinx the project with big promises. Still, he believes the roster can be more controlled with SunPayus in place and said he expects FUT to have the level for a top-eight finish.

FUT want their identity, with more structure behind it

coolio said FUT are not trying to abandon their own style. The goal is to keep the team’s aggression and personality, but remove the chaos that sometimes cost them rounds. He said SunPayus gives them a calmer base without changing what makes the team dangerous.

That balance will take time to confirm in officials. coolio said FUT had already done the work in practice, but the real test is how the roster handles stronger opponents under tournament pressure. He said the team did not enter Bucharest with any heavy expectations, only the aim of starting with a win and seeing how the new setup holds up. He added that if FUT lose to a top side such as MOUZ, the group should not let it derail them.

The schedule also gives FUT more chances to learn quickly. coolio said the team still has Hong Kong and a Major ahead after Bucharest, which means this event is only the first step in a busier stretch. For now, though, the early return from SunPayus is clear: FUT have a new AWPer, a cleaner mid-round, and a win to open the tournament.

I’m not calling them top 8 off one map, but you don’t usually hear a player say the team feels less chaotic on day one unless something реально changed. If SunPayus is already fixing the over-peek mess and the mid-round calls, that’s more useful than a shiny stat line. Or do you think TYLOO just gift-wrapped it for them?
