Blizzard has launched World of Warcraft’s Midnight 12.1.5 content update, and the patch is live with the Unbinding of Kith’ix, the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, the return of Keystone Myth for Season 2, and a new story campaign called The Promise of Tomorrow.

The update also adds a Season 2 mid-season refresh in Silvermoon City and a staggered upgrade path tied to Nebulous Voidcores and Ascendant Venomstones. Blizzard says the patch is meant to “test your mettle with new trials, more power, and greater rewards.”

The Unbinding of Kith’ix goes live as a single-boss raid

At the center of the content update is The Unbinding of Kith’ix, a focused raid built around one boss. Blizzard says the encounter picks up after Ula’tek’s defeat, when the restraints holding Kith’ix in the Venomous Abyss weaken and the Amani’s imprisoned monstrosity breaks free.

The raid offers Story Mode, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. On Mythic, Blizzard says the fight supports a flexible group of 15–25 players. Lady Liadrin accompanies players in the raid, and Blizzard says the encounter brings the story of Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman to a close.

The story campaign built around that conflict is called The Promise of Tomorrow. Blizzard says it sends players back to Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman after Ula’tek’s defeat, into the Coiled Isle, where they make a final stand against the Amani’s ancient foe, the C’Thraxxi general Kith’ix.

Season 2’s mid-season refresh adds Voidcores and Venomstones

Midnight 12.1.5 also expands Season 2 progression through Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City. During realm maintenance the week of October 6, Orin begins offering one additional Nebulous Voidcore a week for bonus rolls. Blizzard says players should first accept In the Catalyst’s Shadow from Decimus in Voidstorm, then pick up Prismatic Potential from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City before weekly maintenance in that same week.

After Prismatic Potential is turned in, Orin starts researching, with a progress timer appearing above his head. Once that research finishes during the week of October 6, he offers Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst. Completing it unlocks the ability to trade gold, Voidlight Marl, or Veteran Mistcrests to Orin for one extra Nebulous Voidcore each week.

Blizzard says Orin’s next steps begin during the week of October 13, when he offers Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom. His next research phase completes during realm maintenance the week of October 20, when he offers Ascending with Venomstones. Finishing that quest lets players earn Ascendant Venomstones from every Heroic or Mythic raid boss, Mythic+ Keystone dungeons at +10 and above, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests.

After collecting 10 Ascendant Venomstones, players can use them near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City to raise the item level of a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Myth, or maximum-quality Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket, or necklace. The crest cap also lifts during the week of October 20.

Keystone Myth returns with a 3600 rating goal

Keystone Myth returns in 12.1.5 for Season 2 as another endgame target. Blizzard says players can earn the Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2 achievement by reaching a Mythic+ rating of 3600.

The studio says the feature is intended to provide a meaningful challenge during the second half of each season, with a rating requirement that reflects dungeon difficulty and gear progression. Blizzard also says it will make targeted dungeon tuning adjustments to address difficulty outliers when Keystone Myth returns in 12.1.5.

The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan adds a Delve-like gauntlet

The other major addition in the patch is the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, which Blizzard describes as a massive, Delve-like gauntlet with nine chambers. The site is an ancient Amani funeral complex north of Amani Pass in Eversong Woods, and Blizzard says it has been sealed for centuries before looters and Vilebranch moved in and the interred spirits began defending it.

Like Delves, the Labyrinth sends players in with a trusted companion, Valeera Sanguinar. Blizzard says the mode keeps the spirit of exploration, discovery, and overcoming challenges, but scales it into a bigger experience with dedicated progression systems, powerful unlocks, and rewards that include Mythic gear, cosmetics, titles, and more.

The Labyrinth can be cleared in a single session or one wing at a time. Blizzard says players can run a single wing and still earn rewards, but each extra room completed creates more chances for treasure and more risks to overcome.

To get in, players can progress through the campaign and accept The Long Way Around, which leads to Liadrin above Thresh Cove, or travel directly to Tokka’s Landing on the Coiled Isle and pick up The Labyrinth from Kul’amara the Fierce. From there, the questline sends them to Valeera at the entrance and then to Dangers Untold and Hardships Unnumbered.

After completing the Chamber of Rites, players speak with Kinduru, the spirit guide, to unlock the remaining chambers. Blizzard says the full Labyrinth then becomes available to the player and their Warband.

The activity also includes a Tier 11 solo challenge, making it one of the patch’s main reward tracks for players who want more than a standard dungeon run.

Aqir Invasions bring timed public events to Eversong and Zul’Aman

Blizzard is also adding Aqir Invasions, zone-wide public events in Eversong or Zul’Aman. Each invasion runs for ten minutes each hour and chains together a series of public events before ending in a boss fight.

Each invasion has six scenario types, split between three combat-focused and three non-combat-focused encounters. Combat scenarios can roll one of eight affixes: Void Protection, Aqir Burrower, Void Sphere, Astalor’s Anguish, Swarms!, Aqir Elites, Void Infestation, and Web Weavers.

  • Void Protection: a Voidweaver can appear and create a protective barrier around other Aqir.
  • Aqir Burrower: burrowing enemies can knock nearby players into the sky.
  • Void Sphere: moving spheres try to trap players inside them.
  • Astalor’s Anguish: Astalor’s Anguish Crystals damage Aqir and any adventurers caught in the blast.
  • Swarms!: all Aqir enemies are replaced with smaller swarms.
  • Aqir Elites: all Aqir enemies are replaced with fewer but stronger foes.
  • Void Infestation: infected enemies explode after a few seconds and can infect other Aqir.
  • Web Weavers: a Webweaver may spawn, and if its channel is not interrupted, it covers a player in webs.

Blizzard says rewards increase as players complete more objectives before the timer ends.

Midnight 12.1.5 is available now, and Blizzard points players to the update notes for more details.

cleaner, sure, but Blizzard love calling smaller content ‘focused’ when it’s really just less content. one boss at mythic will live or die on tuning, and if it’s another overtuned wall the mood will vanish fast. the story angle sounds decent though, i’ll give them that.

lol fair, but at least it’s a clear target now instead of random progress. i actually like having one big number to chase, even if 3600 is very sweaty.

i did a delve last night where my companion tanked like a champ and i just kited mobs around with zero clue what the reward path even was. reading this, the Labyrinth gives me the same energy but bigger and hopefully with better loot. if it actually works as a one-wing-at-a-time thing, that fits my time way better than committing to a full raid night.

I actually like when Blizzard adds weird side systems like this, because I only have time for one or two proper sessions a week. In Dragonflight I often missed the point where a patch had a lot of content, then later I had to catch up and it felt impossible. A Labyrinth with wings, a new campaign chapter, and even those public invasions sounds like I can do one thing and still progress. The only scary part is all the upgrade currencies at once, because my brain is small after work.
