The site renamed Clutching to Closing, added six new stats tables and changed how players are compared across roles.

The role baselines make more sense than the old all-player average, especially for stuff like Closing and Opening. A rifler and an AWPer can have the same number on paper and it still mean very different things in a match, so the new compare view should stop a lot of bad takes. I also like that the top layer is cleaner now – less clutter, more actual signal if you just want a quick read.

I agree on the baseline part, but I think HLTV still needs to be careful with how people read the scores. They can say 'stylistic' as much as they want, but people will still use a high Opening or Closing number like a power ranking. The new tables help, though, because at least the deeper numbers are separated instead of buried in one giant page.

yeah, and the hover tooltips should help a bit too. half the fight with stat pages is people not knowing what the metric even measures.

The six-month similarity thing is interesting to me because it should make the player radar less noisy. If they are comparing style attrs on T and CT sides separately, then a guy like Dawy landing near kyousuke makes more sense than some random all-in firepower comp. I still want to see how it behaves when sample sizes get weird, but this is way better than the old 'same average for everyone' setup.
