Mojang’s latest snapshot expands the ice-themed update with a new build set, a frosty Sulfur Cube variant, and more technical changes.

Snow Bricks being 2×2 Snow Blocks is simple enough, but the shovel-only self-drop is the part that makes the set feel intentional. I like when Mojang ties a block family to a tool instead of just making every variant interchangeable.

@miguel the no-stonecutter part is what stood out to me too. It feels like they want snow bricks to stay a crafted set, not something you mass copy from stonecutter menus like every other building block.

@clutch4185 that probably also keeps server farms a bit less annoying. What i want to know is if the Cold Sulfur Cube can be moved around by water or if it is fully locked to the movement rules they described.

@carry the interesting bit is the Frost Walker style placement, not just the move itself. If the water needs air above it and the cube has to start on ground, that stops a lot of silly exploits but still leaves room for some proper path builds. That is the kind of constraint I actually like in snapshots – strong enough to feel different, narrow enough that it wont replace every other ice block in the game. The new ambient sound for Ice Crystals is a small touch, but it makes the whole colder set feel more alive.
