Gentle Mates GC and KRÜ BLAZE advanced to the upper-bracket semifinals on the second day of the Valorant Game Changers 2026 Championship in São Paulo, according to VLR.gg. Gentle Mates swept Team Liquid Brazil 2-0, while KRÜ BLAZE edged Gen.G GC 2-1 in the day’s closest series.

The results sent last year’s champions, Team Liquid Brazil, into the lower bracket after a straight-sets loss. Gen.G GC also dropped down after a three-map defeat, leaving both teams with little room for error if they want to stay in contention. MIBR GC and SK Nebula opened the event a day earlier with 2-0 wins, setting up a bracket where every upper-quarterfinal result immediately changed the pressure on the teams below.

Gentle Mates shut down Team Liquid Brazil on Summit and Split

Gentle Mates GC opened their match with Team Liquid Brazil on Summit, and both teams ran double-Duelist compositions with Phoenix and Neon supported by Harbor as the solo Controller. Team Liquid took the first pistol, but Gentle Mates stopped the bonus conversion with a clean B-site hold. From there, the European side steadied itself behind strong early rounds from Wens on Cypher and safiaa on Fade, even after Liquid built a 5-1 lead.

Liquid recovered enough to make the first half close, winning rounds through B-site post-plants and forcing the score back to 6-6. The second half started with a Team Liquid pistol win, and both sides traded thrifty rounds after that. Gentle Mates still found a way to push the map over the line, with Wens continuing to control the pace and closing Summit 13-10. Wens finished with 32 kills on the map, even after the switch to attack.

Split followed a similar script in composition, but the map never felt as open for Liquid. Gentle Mates again used a double-Duelist setup, this time with Neon and Yoru, while Liquid kept Phoenix and Neon in play. Starting on defense, Gentle Mates took the first pistol and looked comfortable on the retake game even after dropping the bonus round. Marti’s Yoru added another layer of pressure, and Wens remained central to the round wins while Bizerra tried to keep Liquid close in the half.

That resistance was not enough to stop the European side from taking an 8-4 lead into halftime. On attack, Gentle Mates only accelerated. They won the second pistol, then Wens put up 13 kills across seven attacking rounds as the team closed Split 13-6 and completed the 2-0 sweep over the previous champions.

The win moved Gentle Mates GC into the upper bracket, while Team Liquid Brazil fell into the lower bracket. It also left the reigning champions in a far more difficult position if they want to repeat as the best team in Game Changers.

KRÜ BLAZE outlast Gen.G GC in a three-map series

KRÜ BLAZE and Gen.G GC delivered the most competitive series of the day. The match began on Sunset, where both teams leaned into Sage and Chamber alongside double-Duelist looks. Gen.G ran Neon and Phoenix, while KRÜ came in as the lower-seeded side. Gen.G lost the pistol but answered in the rifle rounds, with 332 producing the strongest Chamber play in the map and helping the Korean team open a 9-3 halftime lead.

KRÜ needed a strong start in the second half, and they got it. The Latin America South side won the pistol and later converted a bonus round for the first time in the series, turning the map into a 9-9 game. The momentum did not last. An ill-timed Omen ultimate handed 332 a free kill, and Gen.G used that round to move back in front before finishing Sunset 13-10.

Ascent shifted the series. KRÜ stayed with a double-Initiator setup and added solo Vyse, while Gen.G kept Sage and Chamber in the composition. KRÜ again took the opening pistol and looked more comfortable in the agent swap than they had on the first map. Clutches started to fall their way, and they entered halftime with a 7-5 lead.

Gen.G opened the second half with a pistol win through miNt, briefly creating the chance for a fast tie. That never arrived. KRÜ held the rest of the map, and Gen.G did not win another round after reaching 7-7. The Latin America South squad closed out Ascent 13-7 to force the first map three of the event.

Ace from 332 keeps Gen.G alive before KRÜ close the door on Abyss

Abyss decided the series, and both teams changed their looks again. KRÜ kept the double-Initiator core from Ascent, but replaced Omen with Astra. Gen.G went with Neon and Yoru in a double-Duelist setup and used Harbor to slow incoming pressure. KRÜ began the map the same way they had the previous two, winning the pistol and then dropping the bonus. Gen.G still pushed ahead by forcing late plants and building a 8-4 lead at halftime.

Gen.G stretched that advantage further by taking the second pistol and moving up 10-4. The gap looked large enough to finish the series, especially after 332 produced an ace that kept the Korean squad in control. But KRÜ kept fighting. Down 11-5, they cut the margin to 12-10 and then converted a 3v5 to put Gen.G under heavy pressure. On the final round, a gap in a Harbor wall gave KRÜ the opening they needed, and they closed Abyss 13-11 to take the series 2-1.

VLR.gg said the result sends KRÜ BLAZE into the upper bracket and leaves Gen.G GC in the lower bracket, where they are now on their last life in the tournament. Gentle Mates GC joined them in the upper half after their 2-0 win, while Team Liquid Brazil dropped down after losing their opening match of the day.

The championship will continue with the remaining two upper-bracket quarterfinals before the lower-bracket games begin on Sunday. Those matches are G2 Gozen versus MIBR GC and Shopify Rebellion Gold versus SK Nebula.
