Rockstar has teased six of Grand Theft Auto 6‘s upcoming radio stations, giving players a first look at the music they will hear when the game launches on November 19. PC Gamer listened to the full 12-minute preview, which includes DJ banter and a short run of songs from each station.
Radio has long helped define Grand Theft Auto. PC Gamer points out that earlier entries used it as a time capsule, with Vice City reflecting its era and Grand Theft Auto 5 mixing classic tracks with modern ones. GTA 6 is also adding podcasts alongside traditional music stations, though Rockstar has not said how many stations the full game will have.
The six teased stations span country to African music
The previewed lineup covers a wide range of styles: Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBANK FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. PC Gamer describes Cocoteo FM as a Latin station, Back Country Radio as classic country, AfroBANK FM as an African music channel, The Chamber 106.6 as the metal station, Flash FM as the pop station and Dirty South Classics as the hip-hop destination.
Each station comes with a small sample of its playlist. Back Country Radio leans on older country cuts, Cocoteo FM mixes Latin hits, AfroBANK FM highlights artists from across Africa, The Chamber 106.6 goes heavy, Flash FM aims at pop and Dirty South Classics centers on Southern hip-hop. The preview is brief, but it gives a clear sense of the tone Rockstar is going for.
- Back Country Radio: The Conversation – Hank Williams, Jr. & Waylon Jennings; Need a Little TIme off for Bad Behaviour – David Alle Coe; Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind) – Loretta Lynn
- Cocoteo FM: EoO – Bad Bunny; Si Es Trucho Es Trucho (Remix) – Axel Rulay ft. Farruko & El Alfa; Canalla – Romeo Santos & El Chaval de la Bachata
- AfroBANK FM: Joha – Asake; Gye Wani – Pat Thomas ft. Ebo Taylor; Shay’sana – DJ Lag & Robot Boii ft. Kamo Mphela
- The Chamber 106.6: I – Black Sabbath; I’m Broken – Pantera; Raining Blood – Slayer
- Flash FM: Good Ones – Charli xcx; Electric Feel – MGMT; Midnight Sun (Girls Trip) – Zara Larsson & PinkPantheress

Rockstar’s licensed music curation has rarely missed in the series, and the six stations teased here follow that pattern. PC Gamer says the preview featured plenty of banter between DJs and songs, but little actual interaction between hosts. The writer also notes that GTA 6 appears to be using duos across its stations, which suggests the final game may lean on back-and-forth chatter more than the preview shows.
That setup fits a game built around long drives through Leonida. A soundtrack with multiple personalities can make each stretch of road feel different, especially when the stations cover styles as far apart as country, metal, pop, Latin and hip-hop. PC Gamer’s write-up argues that the mix already feels in step with the series’ best radio work, even before the full soundtrack is known.
Flash FM brings the clearest pop focus
Flash FM drew the strongest reaction in the article. PC Gamer compares it to Grand Theft Auto 5‘s Non-Stop Pop, which became memorable thanks to its song choices and Cara Delevingne’s deadpan delivery. In GTA 6, Flash FM will be hosted by Alex Consani alongside Robyn, the artist behind Bulletproof.
The station’s preview includes Charli xcx’s Good Ones, MGMT’s Electric Feel and Midnight Sun (Girls Trip) by Zara Larsson and PinkPantheress. PC Gamer says hearing Electric Feel was enough to convince them Rockstar still has a sharp ear for pop. The station feels built for fast, bright driving and the kind of glossy energy that has helped the series’ best radio channels stick in players’ heads.
Other stations show a similar mix of old and new. The Chamber 106.6 includes Black Sabbath, Pantera and Slayer, which gives the metal channel a straightforward heavy sound. Cocoteo FM brings Bad Bunny into the mix with EoO, while AfroBANK FM pulls from Asake, Pat Thomas, Ebo Taylor, DJ Lag, Robot Boii and Kamo Mphela. That spread makes the preview feel broader than a simple nostalgia exercise.
Rockstar is extending the radio formula, not replacing it
PC Gamer presents the teaser as a continuation of one of Grand Theft Auto‘s strongest traditions rather than a major reinvention. Radio has always helped the series build its world, and the addition of podcasts suggests Rockstar wants audio to reach beyond the usual station format. Even so, the core idea remains the same: driving with a soundtrack that reflects the setting, the era and the series’ sense of humor.
The preview also makes clear that Rockstar is still shaping how much variety the final game will have. The article says the six stations are only part of the picture and that the total number in GTA 6 is still unknown. What is known is that the launch version will arrive with a mix that covers multiple genres and several different host pairings.
PC Gamer’s reaction is telling. After listening through the previews, the writer says they are ready to blast some of these stations at full volume down Leonida’s highways. That enthusiasm comes from the same place that has made the series’ radio memorable for years: strong song choices, clear station identities and enough personality to make even a short sample feel distinct.
Rockstar has now shown enough to sketch the shape of GTA 6‘s in-car audio, but not enough to reveal the full roster. The current preview includes six stations, twelve minutes of music and DJ chatter, and a mix that moves from Loretta Lynn to Slayer, from Bad Bunny to Robyn. If this is the sample, the full soundtrack will have a lot to live up to.
Related GAMER2GO coverage has also tracked other GTA 6 reports, including claims about denser traffic, narrower roads and Rockstar’s tiny details, but the radio preview is the clearest official sign yet of how the game will sound in motion. You can find the full story at PC Gamer.
i used to put on the in-game radio and just cruise instead of doing missions lol. if gta 6 really has this much variety, i’m gonna spend half the night driving in circles again
That is the best part of GTA for me too. The mix here sounds more alive than just nostalgia, because they are not only using old classics, they also put modern names like Charli xcx, Bad Bunny and Robyn in the same set. I think the duos on the stations can make the chatter feel more natural if they do it well.
yeah, the duos part is what got me. if the banter actually keeps going while i’m driving, that is way better than dead air between songs
Rockstar knows their trap
podcasts are gonna be annoying
imagine a 10 minute true crime bit while you are trying to outrun cops in leonida lol. if they let me skip it instantly fine, but if not im turning that station off real fast. gta radio is for songs and dumb jokes, not some fake podcast taking over the car
nah, could be funny
Flash FM with Robyn is pretty strong
Non-Stop Pop set a high bar though
nah, pop stations age better when the song picks are sharp. the old gta radios worked because the tracks stuck, not just the host banter
Electric Feel in Flash FM is the one that stood out for me. That song still fits the series weirdly well, even after all this time.
No, the metal station is better. Black Sabbath and Slayer is proper GTA energy.
you sleep on pop that hard?
I do not sleep on it. I just think metal will hit harder while driving fast at night.
My hot take is the station mix matters more than the exact number of stations. Six teased ones already cover a big spread, and that is enough to tell me Rockstar is aiming for distinct road trip moods instead of filler. If the final game really has duos doing more back-and-forth, the hosts could end up being half the reason people keep a station on. The music matters, but the personality around it is what makes GTA radio stick.
bigger than the songs?
Yes. if the host chemistry is bad, even good songs feel dead after one drive.
That is exactly my point
twelve minutes is enough to make people act like they know the whole soundtrack already. classic gta fandom behavior
to be fair, half of us would judge a station off one chorus and call it science
