Grand Theft Auto 6 briefly received a PEGI 18 rating on October 2, 2026, and the listing appeared to spell out new details about violence, drug use, sexual content and language before it was seemingly removed later that day.
According to the report, the Pan European Game Information board’s page gave a more specific breakdown of Rockstar Games’ next crime game than the standard warning label attached to many mature releases. By 11:39 a.m. PT, the page was no longer available and had been replaced with a blank entry reading, “The requested page could not be found.” Users on X/Twitter had already captured screenshots of the listing and were circulating its contents after the removal.
Jason and Lucia at the center of the story
The PEGI summary described GTA 6 as a story about “Jason Duval or Lucia Caminos”, two criminals who become involved in a criminal conspiracy after a failed robbery. It said the pair work together as they become increasingly entangled in criminal activities in Vice City.
The page also lined up with what Rockstar has already shown in earlier footage: an open-world sandbox with a large amount of activity built around Vice City. The new detail was not the setting itself, but the level of specificity in the rating board’s content notes, which went beyond the usual broad mature-content warning.
PEGI described the violence as “bloody with a high degree of realism,” and said some weapons could cause “detailed decapitation and dismemberment.” The summary also said the player can harm all other characters inhabiting the environment, including civilians, criminals and the authorities, because of the game’s free-roam structure.
That lines up with the series’ long-running approach to open-world crime, but the wording in this listing was unusually direct. It singled out specific kinds of damage, rather than only saying the game contains violence, and it tied those effects to particular weapons.
Drug use goes beyond a general warning
The rating text said drug use is “frequent and prominent” and that the player can partake in drug use with others and use illegal drugs directly from their inventory. It singled out cocaine as especially notable, saying it can be carried by the player and “snorted directly from their hand at any time.”
That is more specific than the broad references usually attached to mature ratings. In this case, the listing connected the drug use to moment-to-moment play and suggested it is part of the inventory system rather than a one-off scripted event.
The page also said GTA 6 includes “strong sexual themes,” including nudity, scenes of intercourse and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. PEGI added that in various night clubs, the player can pay for private dances and move their hands onto the dancers’ breasts and buttocks during those sequences.
Those details place the game’s mature content well beyond a simple age notice. The listing did not just say sex is present; it described the type of scenes, the setting in which they appear and the actions the player can take during them.
Language, animals and other issues
PEGI also noted a set of other content issues. Domestic animals can be harmed, though not in the same detail as human characters. The word “f**k” is featured prominently, while “c**t” appears only occasionally. The description also said discriminatory language can be heard in TV shows and on the radio channels.
That broader list suggests the rating board viewed GTA 6 as a game with layered mature content rather than a single focus on violence. The page touched on combat, drug use, sexual content, strong language and environmental interactions in one summary.
The PEGI 18 listing arrived one day after GTA 6 received its official ESRB rating, which also resulted in an M for Mature classification. Taken together, the two ratings pointed to the same conclusion: Rockstar’s next game is being treated by both boards as a firmly adult release.
The listing also reminded players that the game includes the option to purchase in-game items, although the page did not explain what those purchases would be. In August, it was reported that Rockstar would not include microtransactions or generative AI in the game.
The page disappears after circulating online
By the time the update was published, the PEGI entry itself had apparently vanished from the site. IGN said it reached out to PEGI for comment. The report also said copies of the listing continued to spread across social media after the original page went blank.
One post from iGrandTheftAuto.com on October 2 shared the message, “Grand Theft Auto VI PEGI rating is now up!” alongside an image of the listing. That screenshot, and others like it, kept the content visible after PEGI’s page was no longer accessible.
GTA 6 is still set to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. The brief PEGI page did not change that date, but it did provide a sharper look at the material Rockstar’s game is expected to include when it arrives.
The rating summary makes clear that the game is being tracked closely not just for its scale, but for the specific content it will present: a criminal story centered on Jason and Lucia, violence detailed enough for decapitation and dismemberment to be named, cocaine use tied to inventory access, and sexual content described in unusually plain terms. With the page now gone, the screenshots circulating online are the clearest record of what the listing said.
the cocaine bit is wild, but the part that got me was the page calling out decapitation and dismemberment so plainly. PEGI usually keeps it vague, this one sounded like a leak by accident
Or PEGI just wrote what’s in the game. That’s kind of their job, even if they normally don’t spell it out like that.
sure, but it’s still weirdly specific
fair, just not shocking
rockstar marketing for free
No. It sounds like an actual rating entry.
sure, and the moon is made of cheese. ratings boards do not normally drop a whole menu of graphic details like that unless someone wanted attention or someone fat-fingered the public page. either way, the internet already has the screenshot, so the damage is done
I’ve seen plenty of rating summaries get detailed when they’re for adult games, just not this blunt. ESRB already tagged it M yesterday, so PEGI being more explicit is not some wild conspiracy. The details match the kind of stuff GTA has always pushed, just with less PR polish
fair enough, we’ll see
i had a guy in gta online try to run me over, fail, then get clipped by a cop car and lose the entire fight to the police AI. free roam chaos is exactly why that rating text feels on brand
That is just GTA, not new info.
yeah but it’s different when the board writes out the nasty bits in plain english. makes the usual chaos sound way more specific than just ‘mature content’
classic gta
