Blizzard has added a launch-celebration Twitch Drop for World of Warcraft: Forever. Players can earn the Pouch of Violet Dust Toy by watching eligible World of Warcraft streams on Twitch from November 4 at 4:30 pm PST through November 12 at 4:30 pm PST.

The reward is tied to the “WoW: Forever Launch Celebration” event period, which runs until early December. Blizzard said the toy is ephemeral, only works in WoW: Forever, and will be removed from players’ collections after the event ends. Once that happens, it will no longer be available in game.

“Pouch of Violet Dust Toy” is Blizzard’s name for the drop, and the company says it is meant to enhance campfires while players begin their journey through Azeroth in World of Warcraft: Forever.

What the toy does at camp

The Pouch of Violet Dust turns a campfire purple and increases the duration of all camp benefits by one hour. That brings the total duration to two hours. Blizzard also said the effect is shared once activated, so any other players resting at the Camp will receive the same duration extension.

The item is not a permanent cosmetic reward. Blizzard describes it as a temporary launch-celebration toy that can only be used during the event period. After early December, it is gone from collections and can no longer be used.

That restriction makes the window unusually narrow compared with normal account rewards. Players need to claim it during the Twitch Drop period, then use it before the celebration ends.

How to earn the Twitch Drop

Blizzard says players must watch four hours of eligible World of Warcraft content while Drops are active on any channel. Progress can be earned on any eligible stream in the World of Warcraft category on Twitch, and viewers can switch channels without losing their progress. Watching more than one channel at a time does not speed up the drop timer.

To participate, players must link their Twitch account by visiting Battle.net’s account connections page. Blizzard says if a player has changed a password or made any changes to either their Twitch or Battle.net account, the accounts will need to be relinked.

Once an account is relinked, Blizzard says there is a seven-day cooldown before another Twitch account can be linked. After claiming rewards on Twitch, players should also make sure they are logged into the Battle.net region where they want the drop delivered. Blizzard says the first region a player logs into will be the one that receives the items.

It can take up to 24 hours for the reward to appear in game after it is claimed.

Where the drop is supported

Blizzard listed the participating Twitch Drop regions as North America, Latin America, Europe, The Middle East, Africa, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

The company also listed YouTube Rewards regions separately. Those include North America, Latin America, Europe, The Middle East, Africa, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

Blizzard said players can earn and claim drops using a PC or Mac web browser, or through the Twitch or YouTube app on Android or iOS. Twitch apps or YouTube apps on game consoles, smart TVs, and other TV apps do not support drops.

“Watch four hours of eligible World of Warcraft content while Drops are active on any channel.” That is Blizzard’s stated requirement for the reward.

What players need to do before claiming

Blizzard’s FAQ lays out the linking process in more detail. Players should sign into their Battle.net account at the connections page and click the Connect link for Twitch, then follow the instructions to sign in and link Twitch to Battle.net.

The company also says Battle.net accounts can be linked to YouTube through the YouTube Connected Apps page to earn game rewards and drops. For YouTube viewing, Blizzard says players need to watch the World of Warcraft official channel for the full earning period.

Reward delivery differs between the two platforms. Twitch rewards must be claimed on the channel being watched or in the Drops Inventory menu on Twitch. YouTube rewards are delivered automatically in game if the Battle.net and YouTube accounts are connected while viewing.

Blizzard adds that earned Twitch Drop rewards will expire seven days after they have been claimed if a Battle.net account has not been linked. The company says streamers only need to make sure their Twitch and Battle.net accounts are linked and that they have opted into Drops.

Availability limits and Blizzard’s terms

Blizzard says the drop is not available in World of Warcraft Classic games or modern World of Warcraft. A World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time is required.

The company also says it can change, pause, or cancel the Twitch Drop and its terms if it cannot run as planned for any reason, including technical issues or unexpected factors beyond Blizzard’s control.

World of Warcraft: Forever launched on November 4, and Blizzard is using this drop to add a short-lived reward to the opening weeks of the game’s launch celebration. The Pouch of Violet Dust sits inside that event window only, so players who want the purple campfire effect need to collect it before the celebration ends in early December.
