Rockstar says Jason and Lucia can carry radio stations and podcasts with them on foot through newly introduced headphones and earbuds, alongside six newly detailed stations.

The smartphone tie-in is the bit I keep coming back to. If Rockstar has actually built headphones and earbuds into the player loop, that means they're treating music like a system instead of a car feature. The six stations are nice, but this sounds like a bigger UX change than people are giving it credit for.

@Camper51 yeah, but I'd wait to see how much control they give us. Rockstar loves cool systems that end up feeling clunky if the menu timing is off, and with podcasts that could get annoying fast.

I think the menu concern is fair, but the fact they named on-demand podcasts means they're probably trying to avoid the old radio loop problem. If it works like a playlist, that is way better than waiting for one host bit to cycle back around.

on demand is the key word for me. in pubg mobile when media stuff is not on demand, people just ignore it, so gta needs to make skipping and changing easy or it becomes background noise.

I'm more interested in the in-world side than the interface now. Six stations, an album, and podcasts all tied to Leonida is Rockstar doing what they always do best – building a fake media ecosystem that makes the map feel alive.
