The Clash of Clans Wiki on Fandom says Portal Panic is a temporary Medal Event for the Portal Panic season that started on October 8, 2026 and ends on October 25, 2026. The page says the event uses Sour Elixir to move through a reward track and Rift Medals to buy event items from the Trader.

According to the wiki, the event is available to players with Town Hall 6 and above. It also gives a separate end date for the wider event window: October 27, 2026. After October 25, Sour Elixir is no longer available to collect and temporary troops can no longer be trained. The later date is reserved for the Trader’s Rift Medal offers and for claiming rewards already unlocked on the track.

Sour Elixir drives the event track

The page says the Builder appears in the Home Village at the start of Portal Panic to introduce the event. Outside the village, a Sour Elixir Fountain collector is placed and produces Sour Elixir at a slow rate. Sour Elixir can also be earned in Multiplayer Battles and Ranked Battles, where three random buildings glow brightly and award Sour Elixir when damaged or destroyed.

The wiki adds that Sour Elixir cannot be lost once it has been earned. If opponents loot it from an attack, the game generates newly created Sour Elixir instead of removing the player’s accumulated amount. It also says the normal loot penalty for attacking players with a lower Town Hall level does not apply to Sour Elixir.

That makes Sour Elixir a protected event currency rather than a resource that can be stripped away in normal raiding. The source describes it as the main way to move through a rewards track that works similarly to Season Challenges, with tiers unlocked by collecting more of the temporary currency.

Rewards include ores, medals and limited-time units

The wiki says the rewards track includes mostly Ores and Rift Medals, with some tiers also unlocking temporary army units, Magic Snacks, or exclusive Decorations. It also lists an Event Pass priced at $4.99 USD, or the regional equivalent, which opens a paid tier with extra rewards.

Completing the main rewards track unlocks a bonus track, according to the page. That bonus track grants additional Rift Medals, though only up to a limited amount. Players can also pay 90 Gems to unlock the next tier immediately, whether or not they own the Event Pass. Gems cannot be used on the bonus track.

The source breaks the rewards out as a progression system built around repeated Sour Elixir collection. It presents the track as a layered event structure: earn the currency, clear the main tiers, then keep going for the bonus rewards before the final claim window closes.

Rift Medals can be spent at the Trader

Portal Panic also uses Rift Medals as its shop currency. The wiki says players can earn Rift Medals through the rewards track and can buy more through in-app purchases in the Shop. Some Shop offers contain only Rift Medals, while others bundle medals with other content.

On the rewards track, the free tier provides 3,200 Rift Medals. The paid tier adds another 5,500, and the bonus track contributes 200 more. That brings the total to 3,400 Rift Medals available for free, or 8,900 with the Event Pass.

Those medals can be spent at the Trader on special offers. The page notes that previous Epic Hero Equipment is only available if the player has not already obtained it through other means. It also says the Trader’s offers remain available until October 27, after the main event has already ended.

The split timing matters for players trying to use every last medal. The page’s structure leaves two days after the main cutoff to spend Rift Medals and claim unlocked rewards, even though new Sour Elixir collection stops on October 25. Once that first deadline passes, progress changes from earning to cleanup.

Temporary troops are part of the rewards path

The wiki says Portal Panic includes temporary army units that can be unlocked in the rewards track by accumulating Sour Elixir. It identifies one temporary Troop as unlockable that way and lists these temporary units in the section: Totem Thrower, Lavaloon, Witch Golem, Royal Ghost and Giant Skeleton.

Because the page is a community-run wiki entry on Fandom, it reflects the community’s account of the event rather than a developer post. Even so, it gives a specific outline of how Portal Panic is meant to work: collect Sour Elixir from the Fountain, battles and reward tiers, earn Rift Medals along the way, and use the Trader before the October 27 window closes.

The event’s two-date setup keeps its final phase focused on spending and claiming rather than fresh progression. Sour Elixir stops at the main deadline, temporary troops leave the rotation, and players are left with a short period to finish their medal spending and collect the last rewards they unlocked before the event fully ends.

I dont mind that part. It gives clans time to spend medals after the grind ends, and the extra two days are useful if you miss a session. The weird bit is Sour Elixir stopping earlier than the shop, that splits the event in a odd way.

Depends if you want the extra Rift Medals and the paid tiers. If youre chasing old Epic Hero Equipment or all the temp troops, it sounds decent, but for casual farming i’d probably skip it.

yeah thats kind of how im looking at it. i mainly want to know if the pass actually changes what you can buy at the Trader, or if it just makes the grind less annoying. the extra medals matter more to me if the temporary troops or old equipment are locked behind a big price wall.

nah i think thats the point, mate. if it could get stripped in raids nobody would bother pushing the track, and then the whole event would feel dead on arrival.
