FENNEL GC and Team Liquid Brazil advanced through the first elimination matches of GCC 2026 on October 26, with FENNEL eliminating Gen.G GC in three maps and Team Liquid Brazil beating Nova Esports GC 2-0. The fourth day of the tournament was the first to feature knockout matches in the lower bracket, and both winners stayed alive after dropping into it earlier in the event.
FENNEL’s match against Gen.G was the third meeting between the teams in six weeks. FENNEL had taken the first encounter 2-1, while Gen.G answered with a 3-2 win in the rematch. Their GCC series gave Gen.G another chance to break that pattern, but FENNEL handled the pressure better across all three maps.
FENNEL punish Gen.G’s opening on Ascent
Gen.G picked Ascent, a map both teams had already played in their previous meetings. FENNEL won the first meeting there 13-6, while Gen.G took the second 13-9. This time, Gen.G changed its approach and ran DaNa and miNt on Neon and Phoenix, leaning into a double-Duelist look. FENNEL answered with Astra-Omen and used SereNa’s Chamber to hold sites on defense.
The switch did not slow FENNEL down. Their defense repeatedly stopped Gen.G’s attacks, even against the Korean team’s aggressive setups, and FENNEL carried a 9-3 lead into halftime. The second-half pistol and the anti-eco rounds went FENNEL’s way as well, pushing the map to 11-3 before the Japanese side closed it out 13-3 through the A site.
UR was FENNEL’s biggest difference-maker on Omen. The player finished Ascent with a 1.85 rating and a 19/6/5 KDA, helping FENNEL take control of the series before Gen.G could settle in.
Gen.G level the series on Sunset
Sunset had belonged to Gen.G in both of the teams’ earlier meetings, and the Korean squad again made an early statement on the map. Gen.G opened with a 4-0 lead and kept pressing through the first half, using aggressive site hits from miNt and DaNa to build an 8-4 advantage at the break. Gen.G also won the second-half pistol round and kept its defenses tight enough to deny FENNEL a way back in.
FENNEL could not find the same space it had on Ascent, and Gen.G closed Sunset 13-4 to tie the series. DaNa led the server on Neon with a 21/7/4 KDA, giving Gen.G its cleanest map of the match and forcing a deciding third game.
Moco closes Abyss and sends Gen.G out
The series moved to Abyss, where both teams brought mirror compositions built around Yoru-Waylay and Harbor-Omen. FENNEL again made the stronger start, racing to a 4-0 lead. YuRinChi’s Sova darts helped the team stretch that into a 9-3 halftime advantage, putting Gen.G under immediate pressure in the decider.
Gen.G briefly kept itself alive with a second-half force-buy round, but the comeback never gathered momentum. FENNEL stayed in control, and Moco won a 1v1 clutch to secure a thrifty round and close the map 13-8. The win eliminated Gen.G from GCC 2026 and sent FENNEL forward in the lower bracket.
SereNa finished the series on top of the server with a 52/33/7 KDA, while FENNEL’s 13-3, 4-13, 13-8 map split reflected how sharply the momentum swung between the first two maps and how firmly the Japanese side closed the door on the third.
Liquid respond after the Gentle Mates loss
Team Liquid Brazil entered its elimination match against Nova Esports GC after a 2-0 loss to Gentle Mates GC on home soil, but the Brazilian side answered with a much cleaner performance. Nova picked Abyss, and Liquid used fast site hits and slower defaults to build a 10-2 halftime lead. Joojina and daiki combined for 29 kills in the opening half, giving Liquid a big cushion before the side switch.
Nova tried to chip away after halftime, even after Liquid won the second-half pistol and moved within two rounds of finishing the map. Bizerra helped steady the response, recording 12 kills and six deaths in the second half alone as Liquid closed Abyss 13-8.
Liquid then turned to its own map pick, Haven, and the gap widened further. VLR.gg said the team repeatedly shut down Nova’s attacks with defensive holds and retakes, building an 11-1 lead by halftime. Nova won three rounds after the switch, but Liquid finished Haven 13-4 to complete the sweep and eliminate Nova from GCC 2026.
daiki and Bizerra led Team Liquid Brazil’s scoreboard for the series, posting ratings of 1.48 and 1.44, respectively. The win sent Liquid deeper into the lower bracket and gave the squad a reset after the earlier loss to Gentle Mates.
Lower-bracket matchups are set for October 26 and 27
FENNEL GC and Team Liquid Brazil both moved on, while the lower bracket kept shrinking around them. Gen.G GC joined Nova Esports GC on the exit list, and the next elimination matches were already scheduled.
G2 Gozen, which lost to MIBR GC, was set to face Team Liquid Brazil. SK Nebula, after its loss to Shopify Rebellion Gold, was scheduled to meet FENNEL GC. Both elimination matches were set for October 26.
Upper-bracket play remained on the October 27 schedule, with MIBR GC facing Gentle Mates GC and KRÜ BLAZE taking on Shopify Rebellion Gold. The bracket now splits between teams trying to stay alive and teams trying to avoid the lower side entirely, with FENNEL and Liquid having bought themselves another day.
For readers who want the earlier bracket context, MIBR GC and SK Nebula opened GCC 2026 with 2-0 wins on day one, and Gentle Mates GC and KRÜ BLAZE won their upper-bracket matches on day two in São Paulo.
