Gentle Mates GC booked a place in the grand finals of the Valorant Game Changers 2026 Championship on the third-to-last matchday, and KRÜ BLAZE kept their title hopes alive with a lower semifinal win that set up a lower final against Shopify Rebellion Gold.

The day also ended Shopify Rebellion Gold’s unbeaten run. The North American squad took their first map and series loss of the tournament in a 2-1 defeat to Gentle Mates, then dropped into the lower final, where they will meet KRÜ for another chance to reach the championship match.

Gentle Mates recover from an early deficit to beat Shopify Rebellion Gold

The upper final started with both teams undefeated on maps, but that clean record did not survive Split. Shopify seized control early and turned it into a 10-2 lead behind Noia, while dodonut found room on Yoru to break through Gentle Mates’ pistol defense. Gentle Mates needed time to settle, and Wens did not get much done until round 6 finally went their way. Even then, the European side had a long climb back ahead of them.

That climb nearly worked. After stopping Shopify’s bonus round, Gentle Mates began chipping away at the lead with pressure from berryx and Marti, cutting the gap to 12-11 and threatening overtime. Shopify still held their nerve on the final round and closed Split 13-11, giving Gentle Mates their first map loss of the event and handing Shopify an early series lead.

Sunset followed a similar pattern at first. Shopify won the pistol and raced to a 7-2 lead while Noia kept producing, this time on Chamber next to vanitas on Sage. Gentle Mates’ composition leaned on Breach, Fade, Neon and Omen for more explosive rounds, and Nami became the key defensive piece as M8s trimmed the half back to 7-5. The turning point came after Gentle Mates finally won a pistol round and converted the bonus, which gave them the momentum they had been missing. Shopify managed to force a 10-10 tie, but berryx and Nami finished the map 13-11 to push the series to a third map.

Summit ended with Gentle Mates looking steadier in the biggest moments. Shopify once again grabbed the first pistol and returned to the Sage-and-Chamber look that worked on Sunset, while Gentle Mates stuck with the Harbor and Cypher setup they had used earlier in the tournament. Shopify moved ahead 5-3, but their post-plant play began to slip and safiaa repeatedly read the setups to secure defuses on the way to a 7-5 halftime lead, the first halftime edge Gentle Mates had held in the series. Shopify won the second pistol, but a lost bonus round kept the door open. Gentle Mates reached double digits and completed the comeback with a 13-10 win, sealing the 2-1 series and a top-two finish for the EMEA team at the year’s final tournament.

That result sends Gentle Mates GC straight to the grand finals, where they will wait for the winner of the lower bracket. Shopify Rebellion Gold fall to the lower final and now need one more win to earn a rematch for the title.

KRÜ BLAZE survive MIBR GC in the lower semifinal

KRÜ BLAZE stayed alive in the lower semifinal by beating MIBR GC 2-0, extending their run after their earlier top-four finish at the championship. The Latin America South side had already shown they could win under pressure, and this series gave them another direct route deeper into the bracket.

Sunset opened with MIBR taking the first pistol thanks to an aggressive start from bstrdd on Neon. MIBR’s double-Duelist look with Phoenix and Neon caused problems early, but KRÜ adjusted well as the map progressed. Strong Sova play from ponix helped the team recover to a 7-5 deficit at halftime. After the swap, KRÜ’s Sage and Chamber setup started to work on defense, and their retakes became much harder to break. MIBR kept trading rounds and dragged the map to a 10-10 tie, but KRÜ handled the late rounds better and closed Sunset 13-11.

Abyss was tighter in the middle stages, though KRÜ still found the answers they needed. MIBR tried Waylay in a double-Duelist setup, but it did not create much value at the start of the map. KRÜ’s Jett, backed by double Initiator utility, helped them build a 5-2 lead on defense. MIBR then slowed the pace, played smarter around rotations and used mizzy to catch KRÜ off guard multiple times, tying the map 6-6 at halftime. KRÜ won the second pistol to move ahead on attack and hit double digits first. A late sequence from none denied MIBR a possible tie, and KRÜ closed the map 13-11 on an eco round to finish the series 2-0.

With that win, KRÜ BLAZE move into the lower final against Shopify Rebellion Gold. The winner of that match will face Gentle Mates GC in the grand finals, while the loser goes home short of the championship match.

The bracket now runs through KRÜ and Shopify

Gentle Mates are the first team through to the grand finals, and they got there by taking down one of the event’s last unbeaten squads. Shopify’s loss leaves them one match away from a second chance at the title, but they now have to survive KRÜ first. KRÜ, meanwhile, have already outlasted one elimination match and will need one more to reach the final.

The three-map upper final showed how close the top end of the bracket has become. Shopify built early leads on Split, Sunset and Summit, but Gentle Mates kept finding ways back in through stronger late-round play and a steadier defense when it mattered most. In the lower semifinal, KRÜ relied on the same kind of composure, turning small advantages into map wins on both Sunset and Abyss.

The next meeting between KRÜ BLAZE and Shopify Rebellion Gold will decide who gets the final shot at Gentle Mates and the Game Changers 2026 Championship. For one side, the tournament ends in the lower final. For the other, it continues with a chance to take the title from the last team standing.

Not really luck when they open 10-2 on Split and 7-2 on Sunset. Gentle Mates still deserve credit for not folding after those starts, especially turning both pistols later. That kind of comeback usually means the better team adjusted faster, not just the one that got behind.

Fair, the mental side matters too. But Gentle Mates winning both pistols on Sunset and the late rounds on Summit is still a real adjustment, not just Shopify choking.

Sure, but the team that builds 10-2 and 7-2 leads should not be dropping both maps after that. That is the part I am looking at.

Why assume KRÜ need some miracle? They already took MIBR 2-0 and the lower side looked cleaner than Shopify in the late rounds. If anything, this is the kind of match where the team that recovers faster from map 1 pressure wins, and Shopify just got dragged through enough close rounds to feel it.

From my games, the lower-bracket team usually has the easier mindset because they already survived one elim match. Shopify still has to reset after losing their first map and series, which can get in your head.

winning sunset and abyss 13-11 after being behind in both is the part that stands out to me. those are the rounds where teams usually panic and spray the whole site instead of playing the postplant. KRÜ kept it together on an eco too, which is always disgusting when it works.

I had a ranked game last night where we were down 2-8 and came back because our sage just stopped peeking and played the bomb every round. It felt boring as hell but it worked, and that is kind of what this series sounds like – less highlight clip chaos, more patience on defense and cleaner retakes. Teams lose so many games trying to force hero plays instead of just taking the free round when it shows up.
